Floral Spring Gifts

Garden Mix Milk Bottles

Rocking Dog presents a little collection of floral gift ideas. These charming arrangements can all be done very inexpensively, especially if you can raid your garden for little sprigs of this and that!

The photo above consists of a tiny wooden crate, lined with fuchsia tissue paper and containing three mini milk bottles (£1 each from Ikea). I printed out a verse from Gerald Manley Hopkins’s “Spring” on translucent parchment and attached it with a jolly gingham ribbon. The flowers were from my garden (Japonica, Daffs’ and Hellebore)

I love to hoard jars with pretty labels for vases or pencil pots. These Tiptree mustard jars are simply lovely to my eyes! Camelia, Soldiers and Sailors (Pulmonaria), Spurge and Tete de Tete make a sweet little arrangement.

At the moment you can pick up some lovely Daffodil bunches for a £1. Tied with ribbon, and a verse from William Wordsworth’s poem “I Wander’d Lonely As A Cloud” they would be so enjoyed by a lucky recipient.

The Vintage Violets consist of little violet plants and “Mind Your Own Business” set into a pretty vintage cup.

Tete de Tete have been picked put into a small glass jar and then placed in a handmade paper bag (this one was kindly bought back by a friend from Delhi)

These have got to be much more charming than a bunch of flowers purchased on a petrol station forecourt.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend, happy floral foraging!

I wander’d lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daffodils,
Beside the lake, beneath the trees
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

William Wordsworth. I Wander’d Lonely as a Cloud
